Two weeks ago, I spent the weekend in Barcelona to celebrate my friend’s birthday.
The birthday lady organised everything at the end of January so we got very reasonable prices for flights and accommodation.
We flew from Gatwick to El Prat (Barcelona airport) and from there we took the bus to Plaza de Cataluña, 10 min away from where we had the apartment.
The apartment was all Ikea style and very central, near La Rambla. You can see it here, in case you are looking for accommodation in Barcelona – 100% recommended.
After leaving all our baggage in the apartment we went to have some tapas around the neighborhood. We went to Iriati Taverna Basca and I must say it was delicious!
The tapas were yummy and cheap and together with 2 bottles of red wine we had a nice start to the weekend.
We ate, drank and walked all around Barcelona the whole weekend. We even saw a gig: Lagwagon.com at the old cinema called Sala Apollo.
When I was younger, my parents and I used to go to Barcelona every year, to visit some friends who were living there. I always liked the city and even now, a few years later and after having seeing other important cities, Barcelona is still on the top of my list.
I’ve put together a “Guide to Barcelona for a long weekend” with my favourite places we visited:

I still can’t believe we didn’t take the metro even once… yes, we walked and walked and walked everywhere.
